Hi, I'm Diedre.

I have always been interested in the distance between where we come from and who we become.

I was shaped by Jamaica—its language, humour, beauty, contradictions, and deep sense of place. Living abroad gave me new ways to see that inheritance. It also asked me to reconsider home, identity, ambition, and the stories we tell ourselves about belonging.

My professional and creative life has never followed a straight line. There have been bold leaps, necessary endings, unexpected beginnings, and more than one moment when the map stopped making sense. Writing became the way I made meaning of it all.

France is now home. Building a life here has been practical and emotional work: learning systems, finding community, navigating another culture, and allowing myself to be changed without losing sight of who I am.

I created Diedre in Wanderland as a place for honest conversation about that work. It is for those who are moving countries, changing direction, starting again, or simply wondering whether another version of life might be possible.
