Katamah Beachfront Guesthouse is a beach sanctuary and oasis in Treasure Beach on the south coast of Jamaica. The oceanfront Moroccan-styled cabins and villas just put you at ease. Think ‘Moroccan designs meet Jamaican paradise’. If you want a private getaway, focused on the bohemian calming energy of nature and the sea, then Katamah is for you. The lush gardens, comfy hammocks ad day beds around the property only add to the escape. I’ve never felt so zen. There are so many things I love about this place, but here are 10 reasons to love your stay at Katamah Treasure Beach:
10 reasons to love your stay at Katamah Treasure Beach
1. Ocean Views
Watch the waves roll onto the shores, or listen as the Caribbean Sea serenades you to sleep. Katamah Beach Villa sits a stone’s throw away from the beach – a 2min walk from your room and can go swimming in the Caribbean Sea. comfortably along the beach.
2. Day beds and Hammocks
Much like the sleepy town of Treasure Beach, Katamah offers you a retreat with cozy day beds and hammocks strewn all around the property. The space was made with rest and relaxation in mind. I legit chilled in the hammock with a sheet mask on for a quick face spa. The day beds at Katamah are perfect for reading (there is a small library of books available), while the hammocks lull you into a breezy nap.
3. Lush Greenery
First there’s the beach, then there’s all the lush trees and plants found on the property. Each cabin and villa at Katamah is enveloped in a garden of greenery. Not only do the plants provide shade from the sun, they help to keep the rooms cool especially during summer.
4. Private Villas
Probably the best thing about Katamah is that each room acts as a standalone unit. Don’t get me wrong, the atmosphere at Katamah is friendly, social and communal, but your privacy and independence is still respected. It’s perfect for you, if you like to sneak away from all the friendly banter and have some time to yourself.

5. Cabins for every budget
It doesn’t matter if you have US$60 to spend or US$600. There’s a room to match your budget at Katamah Beachfront Guesthouse. I like that it’s inclusive in this sense. The rooms are beautifully decorated and all come with their own en suite bathroom and private verandah/terrace. If you’re a solo traveller then I highly recommend the Marley Room!
6. Friendly staff
If you thought that the property was cool, I’m here to tell you that the staff is cooler at Katamah. When you arrive, you’re given a 1-on-1 welcome by the owners, who are ready to answer all your questions about what to do, where to eat, and any other expectations you might have for your stay. I was treated with so much care that I quickly developed a rapport with the owners. It was like I was their only guest, and every other person staying there expressed the same thing to me. I can truly say that I loved my stay even more because of the friendly and respectful staff.
7. Yummy eateries nearby
While Katamah has a fully equipped communal kitchen, you should take advantage of the cafes and restaurants serving delicious Jamaican food nearby. Restaurants are literally next door (or within walking distance. Smurf’s Cafe is a must for breakfast.
8. Fun Soulful Activities
The Roof Deck at Katamah Treasure Beach overlooks the sea and has a nice space for practising yoga while watching the sunrise on the beach. Other activities include:
- Massage and spa
- Dolphin watching
- Pelican Restaurant & Boat Tour
- Bonfire on the beach
- Live Music

Just like the rest of the Treasure Beach community, Katamah Beachfront Guesthouse prides itself on being an eco-conscious lodging. Each villa on the property is designed with the environment in mind. The lush gardens reduce the need for air-conditioning by providing ample breeze. Additionally, recycling is actively done and guests are encouraged to participate.

I think you’ve realized by now that relaxation, private yet social accommodation, and nature are a big part of the ‘Katamah aesthetic’. The Moroccan designs of the rooms and furniture give Katamah a unique bohemian vibe. Mix that with the friendly staff, gardens and beach, and you get the most zen atmosphere ever.
